The project involved redesigning and constructing a new SLOW Lounge for O.R. Tambo International Airport. These lounges aim to offer travellers a more comfortable and luxurious airport experience, designed to alleviate the typical stresses associated with travel. The design focused on using materials, textures, colours, and proportions to reflect this concept.

In this project, my main role was in design execution. As the project progressed and site complexities emerged, my role evolved from draughtsman to acting as a liaison between contractors and consultants, facilitating collaborative problem-solving.

After receiving initial concept sketches, I used a programme called Revit to model every element in the lounge, providing the basis for the renderings. These renderings were then translated into working drawings used by the contractor to implement our designs.

A significant challenge was ensuring the existing lounge remained operational during construction. The project involved a substantial amount of detailing, resulting in numerous drawings and revisions, particularly due to the phased approach taken.
